Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has recruited finance and energy lawyer Thomas Ng from Linklaters as a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Ng advises primarily Chinese companies and financial institutions on their finance, projects and energy transactions worldwide.

“We are focused on developing the firm’s finance and energy practices in Asia and Tom’s appointment is the latest step in that process,” said Robert Ashworth, managing partner of Freshfields’ Asia practice, in a statement.

Prior to joining Freshfields, Ng was a partner in Linklaters’ Beijing office.

Ng is the second partner that Freshfields has plucked from Linklaters’ Asian offices in recent weeks. In mid-March, the firm hired Hong Kong-based capital markets partner David Ludwick from its Magic Circle rival.
