Norton Rose Fulbright has hired five lawyers from Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson’s dispute resolution team in Hong Kong, following the U.S. firm’s announcement in January that that it was exiting Asia.

 

Former Fried Frank partner Alfred Wu, consultant Philip Nunn, and associates Muriel Cheng, Anita Fong and Kevin Hong have joined Norton Rose’s dispute resolution group in Hong Kong. Nunn joins the firm as a senior consultant.

 

The five-lawyer team specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration, and represents both domestic and international clients in commercial, construction and regulatory disputes. 

 

With the addition of Wu, Norton Rose’s dispute resolution team in Hong Kong, led by Camille Jojo, now has six partners. 

 

“Globally we have seen a significant increase in the demand for dispute resolution services, and our team is growing to meet this demand, said Deirdre Walker, Norton Rose’s head of dispute resolution and litigation for Europe, the Middle East and Asia, in a statement.

 

“Hong Kong is a key hub for China, and Asia as a whole, and Alfred’s team will bring valuable additional resources to our offering.”

 

In January, ALB reported that Fried Frank is closing its offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, effectively pulling the firm out of Asia. The firm’s Asian offices are expected to formally close by the end of June.
