Stephenson Harwood has welcomed back Michelle Yong, who specialises in shipping, energy and international trade, as a partner in Singapore from Ince & Co, where she was a consultant.

Yong has represented banks in financial litigation matters, major oil companies, wind farms, national airlines and other multinational businesses,  as well as shipyards in commercial transactions including shipbuilding, ship charters, ship sale and purchase, offshore contracts and commodities contracts. She also acts in Singapore-based arbitrations and advises on international disputes.

“Michelle is bright and extremely committed to serving her clients' legal needs, which she does in a smart, sensible and commercially-aware manner. We see her as one of the next wave of partners who will ensure Stephenson Harwood's future growth,” said Durai Shunmugam, partner at Stephenson Harwood in Singapore, in a statement.

Prior to her six-month stint at Ince, Yong spent more than six years as an associate with Stephenson Harwood, during which she advised on Opus Offshore’s acquisition of semi-submersible rigs and its 2014 strategic joint venture with Songa Offshore.
