Kennedys has hired insurance specialist Ben Nicholson as a partner in Singapore from DAC Beachcroft, whose local operation he helped set up.

Nicholson specialises in all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law, particularly in the areas of construction, energy, engineering, property and infrastructure risks. His experience also includes claims resulting from commercial product liability, power losses, natural disasters as well as professional and financial lines.

His hiring comes months after Kennedys entered into a joint law venture (JLV) with Singapore-based Legal Solutions.

“Growing our offering in Singapore is an important component of our overall international expansion strategy. Ben brings valuable expertise advising on insurance matters in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthens our offering to our global insurance client base,” said Kennedys senior partner Nick Thomas in a statement.

Kennedys Legal Solutions now has 34 lawyers in Singapore, offering litigation services as well as advice in regulatory matters, employment, health care and corporate insurance.
