Japanese firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto has opened a Jakarta desk at Arfidea Kadri Sahetapy-Engel Tisnadisastra (AKSET) Law, the Tokyo-headquartered firm’s strategic ally in Indonesia.

MHM will operate out of AKSET’s offices and will provide legal services for Indonesia-related deals in collaboration with the Jakarta-based firm’s attorneys. MHM has been sending lawyers to Indonesia for about four years, with Tetsu Takeuchi acting as the point person for all Indonesia-related legal matters since 2014.

Reiji Hosokawa is expected to join Takeuchi at MHM’s Jakarta desk by mid-2016.

The Jakarta desk is the latest in MHM’s expansion plans, after the firm established offices in Nagoya in September 2015, and in Bangkok in April.

The firm also has offices in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Yangon.
