White & Case has hired insolvency specialist Damien Whitehead as a local partner in Hong Kong from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was that firm’s restructuring and insolvency head for Greater China.

Whitehead advises corporates, financial institutes and insolvency practitioners on contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency transactions. He also specialises in commercial disputes with a special focus on shareholder disputes.

“Damien’s experience cuts across transactional and contentious matters. This, coupled with his banking and corporate advisory background, further solidifies our practice bringing value to our clients in Hong Kong, China and other parts of Asia.” said Baldwin Cheng, co-head of the W&C’s Asia banking & restructuring practices, in a statement.
