Nixon Peabody CWL has elected Matthew Lam and Joanne Wu as co-managing partners in Hong Kong. The pair takes over from Kenneth Wong.

The firm was formed last year as a combination between Nixon Peabody’s Hong Kong office and local outfit CWL Partners, which had been the Boston-headquartered firm’s associated firm in the SAR since 2010.

Wong was previously the managing partner of CWL Partners, and continued in that role following the merger. He will remain a partner in the firm’s corporate practice.

Lam, a partner in the firm’s corporate and China practices, has experience in corporate and commercial matters, cross-border transactions, corporate finance, project finance, intellectual property litigation and trademark protection in Hong Kong and China.

Wu, who is the head of the firm’s Hong Kong dispute resolution practice, has experience in civil and commercial litigation and arbitration, with a focus on commercial and shareholders disputes involving Mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas clients. She also handles contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including enforcement and disputes cases across the region.

“Joanne and Matthew are accomplished lawyers with great leadership skills who will effectively guide our Hong Kong office.  I am confident together they will ensure our continued growth and success in Asia,” said Andrew Glincher, managing partner and CEO of Nixon Peabody, in a statement.
