Mayer Brown JSM has named Terence Tung as the firm’s new senior partner in Hong Kong. Tung will take over from Elaine Lo, who will remain with the firm as a partner and as the head of Mayer Brown’s China practice.

Tung joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 1982 and was promoted to the partnership in 1989. Thereafter, in 2002, Tung moved to Beijing to become the managing partner of the firm’s office there. His practice focuses primarily on litigation and dispute resolution. He also handles liquidation and debt restructuring matters.

“Terence is a proven leader with more than 30 years of experience in the legal profession. I have every confidence that, under Terence’s leadership, we will remain as one of the leading international business law firms in Asia,” said Paul Theiss, chairman of Mayer Brown, in a statement.
