Anderson Mori & Tomotsune edged out the competition at the ALB Japan Law Awards 2016, collecting six gongs, including Japan Deal Firm of the Year, Japan Law Firm of the Year, and Managing Partner of the Year for Yasufumi Shiroyama.
The annual event, which was held on June 14 at The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, also saw Clifford Chance pick up a considerable honour haul, including the International Deal Firm of the Year and Aviation Law Firm of the Year awards, as well as the Dealmaker of the Year gong for capital markets partner Reiko Sakimura.
Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu and Mori Hamada & Matsumoto also stood out from the crowd, scooping up two awards each. The Japan Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year and Regulatory and Compliance Law Firm of the Year awards went to NO&T, while the Tax and Trusts Law Firm of the Year and SE Asia Practice of the Year gongs were picked up by MHM.
Now on its 12th year, the event also celebrated the achievements of in-house counsel, with ITOCHU Corporation taking home the Japan In-House Team of the Year prize. Meanwhile, Citigroup Global Markets Japan’s Yuko Ozaki was recognised as In-House Lawyer of the Year.
