Ashurst has continued its expansion in Tokyo with the hire of Tracy Whiriskey as partner in its global corporate team there from Clifford Chance.

Whiriskey is an M&A lawyer and has experience in advising Japanese trading, mass media and utilities companies on large-scale outbound transactions. With experience in the insurance sector too, she will be advising on complex transactions in the insurance sector, including M&A, portfolio transfers, risk transfer arrangements and capital raisings.

Prior to Clifford Chance, Whiriskey worked at Allens Linklaters where she also spent time on secondment to Japanese law firm Nagashima, Ohno & Tsunematsu.   

In the recent past, Ashurst has also transferred senior banking and project finance partners Matthew Bubb and Dominic Gregory to its Tokyo branch, promoted projects and infrastructure partner Matthew Rickards, and hired disputes counsel Anthony Hague.

Established more than 25 years ago, the Tokyo office is currently led by Tokyo managing partner Rupert Burrows. Whiriskey’s appointment takes the total number of partners there to six.
