Baker & McKenzie leads the law firm nominations at the 15th annual The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards organized by Asian Legal Business. The firms 18 nominations include key categories such as Deal Firm of the Year and Investment Funds Law Firm of the Year.

Mayer Brown JSM comes in second with 13 nominations, while Deacons, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills and King & Wood Mallesons all have 12 nominations each. All of the above six firms are vying for the popular award categories of Arbitration Law Firm of the Year and Litigation Law Firm of the Year. 

Among the in-house nominations, strong local companies CK Hutchison and COSCO Pacific lead the pack with four nominations each. The In-House Team of the Year award this year also features new contenders like Hong Kong Jockey Club, Microsoft and Walmart.

This year’s law awards features 39 different award categories open to law firms and in-house counsel, including the new categories of Rising Law Firm of the Year, Aviation Law Firm of the Year, Shipping Law Firm of the Year, Young Lawyer of the Year and Woman Lawyer of the Year (open to both private practitioners and in-house counsel). 

The winners will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony taking place on Sept. 9 at the Conrad Hong Kong. This premier event celebrating legal excellence will feature a banquet dinner, free-flow drinks, lively entertainment and an evening of networking with Hong Kong’s legal and business community.
