King & Wood Mallesons has appointed John Baptist Chan as a partner in its Corporate & Securities practice in Hong Kong.

Chan’s most recent role was general counsel of the AMTD Group, prior to which he was a counsel at Clifford Chance. His previous roles include working with Paul Hastings and Linklaters, as well as in-house with Citi.

Among the IPOs that Chan has closed are those of Bank of Communications, Haitong Securities and China Huishan Dairy.

KWM’s most recent hire follows those of partners Peter Bullock and Anthony Wan from Pinsent Masons and Llinks Law offices, respectively. The firm now has a total of 28 partners based in Hong Kong.
