Stephenson Harwood is set to open an office in Myanmar next year, according to its CEO Sharon White. This comes shortly after the firm ended its alliance with local outfit U Tin Yu & Associates.

The firm has been advising clients in Myanmar, as well as international clients investing there, for some time now, said White. “The country is an increasingly attractive target for investments and we will continue providing our clients with high-quality legal advice they expect, and, in light of all this, we have decided that it’s the right time to establish a presence in Myanmar,” she added.

In August, Korean law firm Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL) opened an office in Yangon, while in June, Baker & McKenzie relocated partner Jo Daniels from Brisbane to Myanmar and named her managing partner of its Yangon office.
