Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has hired Geoffrey Chan from Ropes & Gray as a partner to lead its Asia-Pacific investment management practice in Hong Kong.

Chan regularly represents sponsors and investors from a variety of fund types, ranging from private equity and venture capital to co-investment and real estate funds. He mostly advises on issues like fundraising and holding company structuring as well as internal funds and investment activities.

Chan also had stints at O'Melveny & Myers as counsel and at Merrill Lynch as an investment banker.

In October, Skadden lost its Hong Kong-based corporate counsel Adam Cheng to JunHe Law Offices.

Global law firm Morrison Foerster has announced that private equity veteran Scott Jalowayski will rejoin the firm as a partner in Singapore. Jalowayski most recently co-chaired the global private equity group at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
