Clifford Chance has advised Comcast NBCUniversal on its $2.3 billion purchase of the remaining 49 percent it does not already own in Universal Studios Japan from an investor group that includes Goldman Sachs, which turned to Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu for counsel.

The deal values the Japanese theme park operator at $7.5 billion, including the assumption of net debt, according to Reuters.

Universal Studios Japan opened in 2001 as a Japanese company with a license from NBCUniversal. Comcast acquired a 51 percent stake in 2015.

Partners Andrew Whan and Tatsuhiko Kamiyama handled the transaction for CC, while the STB team was led by partner David Sneider.

Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu was represented by partner Ryuji Sakai.
