The ALB SE Asia Law Awards, the pre-eminent legal awards in the region, has announced the finalists for 2017 edition. Asian Legal Business will host the black-tie awards ceremony on May 18th 2017 at the St. Regis Singapore, honouring the best and brightest legal stars from Singapore and Southeast Asia in 34 categories. 

With 13 nominations each, top-tier Singapore law firm Allen & Gledhill and Vietnam’s Vision & Associates lead the way for private practice. A&G’s nominations include the SE Asia Deal Firm of the Year, Singapore Litigation Law Firm of the Year, Rising Law Firm of the Year (for its Myanmar office) and a number of deal awards. Vision & Associates is up for Vietnam Law Firm of the Year, Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year, among many more. After them are Rajah & Tann Singapore and WongPartnership with 10 nominations each; both are contenders for a number of the same awards such as Real Estate Law Firm of the Year. Baker McKenzie, Budidjaja & Associates and Drew & Napier with 8 nominations each make up the other law firms with a large number of nominations. 

This year, ALB has a introduced a number of new award categories to promote inclusiveness and ensure we recognize the top work, individuals, firms and teams. Recognizing individual achievements, ALB is proud to introduce the Woman Lawyer of the Year and the Young Lawyer of the Year categories in 2017, which have seen an incredible number of submissions from top female lawyers and rising stars across the region. 

Among the in-house team awards, we are delighted to welcome many new finalists in the Construction and Real Estate In-House Team of the Year, and the Technology, Media and Telecommunications In-House Team of the year categories. Leading the in-house teams with 3 nominations are Lazada South East Asia and EFA Group, with other companies following close behind.
