J. Sagar Associates (JSA) has represented internet giant eBay on the sale of its India business to Bangalore-based Flipkart, which turned to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) for advice.

Allen & Gledhill and Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian were also involved in the transaction, advising Flipkart on matters related to Singapore and U.S. law, respectively. Meanwhile, Morgan Lewis & Bockius served as both Singapore and U.S. counsel to eBay.

The merger, reportedly the biggest e-commerce deal in the country to date, has received approval from Competition Commission of India (CCI).

The deal was first made public in April when Flipkart raised $1.4 billion from tech majors including eBay, Microsoft and Tencent Holdings. eBay also made a cash investment and sold its eBay.in unit in exchange for an equity stake in Flipkart.

The JSA team was headed by partners Vivek K. Chandy, Archana Tewary, Amitabh Kumar, Vaibhav Choukse, and Kumarmangalam Vijay. Meanwhile, partners Nivedita Rao, Anand Jayachandran, and Arun Prabhu handled the transaction for CAM.

U.S. partners William Perkins and Dinesh Melwani as well as Singapore partner Joo Khin Ng oversaw the deal for Morgan Lewis.

Partners Steven L. Baglio, Jonathan C. Pentzien, Ferish P. Patel, Hozefa M. Botee, Andrew Y. Luh, Ward Breeze, and David P. Sharrow spearheaded the Gunderson Dettmer team.
