Mayer Brown JSM has hired Alan Linning as a partner in its litigation and dispute resolution practice in Hong Kong from Sidley Austin.

Linning specialises in financial services regulatory matters, investigations and proceedings, as well as commercial litigation.

A former Securities and Futures Commission regulator, he focuses on companies that are facing investigations and are defending civil claims and criminal prosecutions brought by regulatory agencies, including the SFC, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

“As regulatory enforcement and related compliance concerns continue to top our clients’ lists of concerns, Alan’s in-depth knowledge of Hong Kong’s regulatory landscape acquired from his senior roles in the public and private sectors and experience in commercial litigation will significantly enhance the firm’s capabilities in these areas,” said John Hickin, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s litigation and dispute resolution practice.
