Alternative legal services provider Lawyers On Demand (LOD), has appointed Gervais Carlton-Blake as its first chief information officer from technology consultancy Agile Consulting.

Carlton-Blake will concentrate on improving the firm’s existing global infrastructure, looking at IT solutions for CRM, collaboration, document management and workflow tools. He will also continue to develop technologies to enhance both the lawyer and client experience.

Possessing more than 20 years of technology experience, ranging from working with startups to running globally distributed IT departments for large corporations, Carlton-Blake worked closely with LOD last year to design and upgrade its systems.

The UK-headquartered LOD, which was created by law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner in 2007, merged with Australia’s AdventBalance last year. It now has eight offices in five countries,  including branches in Singapore and Hong Kong.
