King & Spalding has hired Ryuichi Kaga, the former head of the Asian Development Bank’s Office of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), as a senior advisor in its Tokyo office.
Kaga is a project finance expert with more than 35 years of experience in senior roles within the international financial market. His expertise includes project structuring across infrastructure, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing and PPP matters, and he has worked on financial products for multilateral development agencies, export credit agencies, commercial financial institutions, as well as project stakeholders.
Before his five-year stint at the ADB, Kaga was with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation for 32 years.
“Ryuichi has unique insights into the project finance and infrastructure markets, both regionally and internationally, that strengthen our existing projects and energy capabilities for our clients in Tokyo and Asia,” said John McClenahan, managing partner of the Tokyo office. “His experience at the very centre of some of Asia’s most important financial institutions — JBIC and ADB — also provides great opportunities for our clients to understand the issues and drivers for successfully financing complex energy and infrastructure projects.”
