K&L Gates has hired Owen Chio as a partner in the firm’s energy, infrastructure and resources practice in Taipei from KPMG Law Firm, where he was global co-leader of its compliance practice.

Chio’s experience includes advising on cross-border M&A, investments, and related corporate and official approvals, as well as on general corporate and commercial matters and compliance issues.

Before his two year-stint at KPMG Law Firm, Chio was at Baker McKenzie’s Taipei office for 15 years, including a decade as a partner, and also had stints at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Linklaters, both in Hong Kong.

K&L Gates has been growing its energy, infrastructure and resources practice globally over the past year, hiring almost 20 lawyers so far.
