Three lawyers from Troutman Sanders, which is set to close its Asia office at the end of May, have joined Locke Lord in Hong Kong, including arbitration partner Ronald Sum.
Sum joins Locke Lord as the head of the firm’s East Asia head of arbitration. The other lawyers are of counsel Daniel Lee, and Beryl Wu, a trainee lawyer who will qualify as an associate in August.
Sum focuses his practice in all areas of dispute resolution and non-contentious matters, with an emphasis on China-related matters, cross-border disputes, transportation, international trade, insurance and reinsurance, product liability and product recall.
Locke Lord is looking to Sum and his team to help grow the Hong Kong office’s international arbitration practice, which previously consisted only of Greg Burch. Burch, the firm’s chair of China and Hong Kong practice, splits his time between Locke Lord’s Hong Kong and Houston offices.
