Goodwin Procter has hired Bosco Yiu as a private equity partner in Hong Kong from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he was an associate.

Yiu is experienced in representing private equity firms, investment banks and public and private companies in connection with M&A, joint ventures, IPOs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and general Hong Kong corporate regulatory and compliance advice. He has particular expertise with Hong Kong takeovers, privatisation, private and public M&A, reorganisations and equity capital markets transactions.

Goodwin has been slowly rebuilding its Hong Kong office since several lawyers departed in 2016. That year, corporate partners Christopher Yu and Andrew Yang headed to local firm Howse Williams Bowers and Addleshaw Goddard, respectively, and disputes specialist Jay Chiu left for K&L Gates, where he was made a partner. Corporate partner Nian Qing also left that year.

Since then, Goodwin has recruited private equity partners Douglas Freeman and Victor Chen from Paul Hastings last year and relocated private investment funds partner Greg Barclay from its London office.

With the new additions, Goodwin now has 17 lawyers in Hong Kong, including six partners.
