Slaughter and May has hired investigations and litigation lawyer Wynne Mok as a partner in Hong Kong from the city’s Securities and Futures Commission, where she was a director of enforcement.

Mok will focus on regulatory inquiries and investigations, including multi-jurisdictional investigations, and will work closely with the firm’s London, Beijing and Brussels offices.

Before taking up her role with the regulator in 2016, Mok was a disputes partner at Norton Rose Fulbright. Before that, she had stints at the legacy UK firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (which merged with Clyde & Co in 2011) and at local firm Deacons.

“The addition of Wynne Mok adds direct prosecutorial-side experience of regulatory investigations to the global team,” the firm said in a statement. “This is set against the backdrop of increasing collaboration between international regulators, who are seeking to increase standards of law enforcement and good governance on a global basis.”

Mok is Slaughters’ second lateral partner hire in Hong Kong and its third ever in the firm’s 129-year history. Its first lateral hire, which was also in Hong Kong, was corporate partner John Moore from Morrison & Foerster, who co-headed the U.S. firm’s capital markets practice for Greater China, back in 2014.

Slaughters now has 14 partners in its Hong Kong office.
