Andersen Global, the tax advisory network born from the ashes of the now-defunct Arthur Andersen, has expanded its presence in India following a tie-up with Vaish Associates Advocates as well as accounting firm Nangia Advisors.

The tie-up with Vaish means that Andersen Global now has independent law firms in 103 locations globally on its network.

In the wake of Arthur Andersen's demise in 2002 following the Enron accounting scandal, a new entity called Wealth and Tax Advisory Services (WTAS) was set up after HSBC purchased a portion of Arthur Andersen's tax practice, and also hired a number of tax partners from Arthur Andersen.

This entity was later rebranded as Andersen Tax in 2014. Also that year, its tax advisory network WTAS Global (established in 2013) was rebranded as Andersen Global.

This is not the first time that an Andersen entity has had a presence in India’s legal space. In 2001, law firm DSK Legal was set up as a best friend of the legacy Arthur Andersen.
