Jakarta-based Assegaf Hamzah & Partners (AHP), a member of the Rajah & Tann Asia network, has grown its intellectual property practice after acquiring boutique firm Dewi Soeharto Law Partnership (DSLP).

Following the acquisition, DSLP founder Dewi Soeharto will become a partner at AHP, and will co-head the firm’s IP practice with veteran litigator Chandra Hamza.

“This merger is a strategic move of our firm to expand and strengthen our IP practice, as we successfully did five years ago with our competition practice by teaming up with an elite competition firm,” said AHP in a statement.

DSLP was founded in 1996, and has focused its practice on IP law since 2007. Its services include copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, layout design of integrated circuits, plant variety protection and trade secrets.

AHP is currently the largest law firm in Indonesia, with approximately 130 lawyers, including 22 partners.
