Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, the Singapore law firm of Dentons, has hired banking and finance specialist Roderick Howell as a partner from Herbert Smith Freehills.

With over two decades of experience, Howell’s practice focuses on structured secured finance (including asset and project), hybrid debt/equity structures, restructuring/distressed deals, acquisition and leveraged finance and traditional syndicated and bilateral lending.

Notable transactions that Howell has advised on include European Bank’s purchase of a $1.5 billion distressed portfolio of loan assets across Asia. His clients include corporates and borrowers on infrastructure projects around Asia.

Howell joined HSF in 2013 from Allens Arthur Robinson, where he was head of that firm’s Asia finance team. Prior to that, he was a partner at Clifford Chance in the firm’s New York, London and Hong Kong offices, and also led its regional asset finance practice.
