Nixon Peabody CWL has hired John Maguire as a partner in Hong Kong from the Jack Ma-backed Yunfeng Financial Group, where he was the head of corporate finance.

With focus on corporate finance and M&A, Maguire has advised on transactions such as public company takeovers, IPOs, equity fundraisings, debt financings, notifiable transactions, connected transactions, complex corporate and debt restructurings, M&A and cross-border transactions.

Prior to joining Yunfeng, Maguire co-founded RHB OSK Capital Hong Kong Limited, where he was managing director. And before that, he was a director at Worldsec Corporate Finance Limited (then an affiliate of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi), covering Southeast Asia.

The firm has also promoted corporate lawyer Patrick Lee, who joined Nixon Peabody in 2012, to the partnership.

Lee, whose area of expertise is in corporate and commercial transactions involving Hong Kong and China, has represented clients in these regions on corporate matters including takeovers, secondary fundraising transactions, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters.
