Global Sport Media Business  | Legal Counsel ~ Beijing

We are looking for a legal counsel that will thrive in a working culture that is young, entrepreneurial and hands-on working alongside a team of international lawyers advising on business and strategy on areas such as digital media, TV, sponsorship, licensing, IP, social media and merchandising.

A business with games and programming in over 200 countries and territories in 50 languages with merchandising sales in more than 120,000 stores in over 100 countries on 6 continents and a social media presence with over 1 billion followers.

Key requirements

  1. Support senior lawyers in a range of commercial transactions.
  2. Drafting or reviewing contracts (in English or bilingual) for our Client's China business operations.
  3. Manage company secretarial matters for PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other entities.
  4. Opportunities to engage in legal work relating to Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  5. Responsibility for administrative and procurement contracts (e.g., outsourcing, IT, renovation, leasing).
  6. Work under the supervision of the Associate VP/Senior Legal Counsel and be part of a legal team in support of the businesses in China

 

Experience Profile

  • Proven experience in company secretarial matters, including maintaining and renewing the status of PRC entities; preparation and making of filings with government departments (e.g. MOFCOM, AIC) and preparation of resolutions
  • Commercial IP knowledge highly preferred, e.g., handling company-created designs and logos
  • Proven ability to review and draft commercial contracts.
  • Ability to handle legal research
  • Fluency in both Chinese/Mandarin and native English (verbal and written)
  • Experience in communicating with clients (not just internal law firm communications)
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with high energy and team spirit.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work experience in an international environment with an appreciation of foreign cultures and business practices.
  • Strong interest in sports preferred

Qualifications

  • PRC bar
  • At least 4-5 years of post-qualification experience including:
    • At least 3 years of post-law school solid law firm experience in China working with both local and international lawyers on corporate and commercial matters (excluding equity capital markets), in particular involving contract drafting and negotiations.in an energetic and active environment.
  • Experience in handling non-PRC matters (especially Hong Kong, Taiwan, UK and US) highly preferred.
