The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards, the most prestigious legal industry event in the region, is coming back for the 17th time. To be held on Sept. 7 at the Conrad Hong Kong
The awards night will pay tribute to the finest deals and legal practitioners from 81 law firms and 42 in-house teams participating in the submissions. The guest of honour for the evening will be Philip Dykes, S.C., the Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association.
As the foremost awards event for the region’s legal profession, competition for the coveted accolade gets even tougher this year. The Woman Lawyer of the Year award is the most popular category, attracting a record-breaking 40 submissions, while the Young Lawyer of the Year and the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law Firm of the Year awards categories have received 29 and 21 entries respectively. Hong Kong In-House Team of the Year (19 submissions) and Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year (18) round out the top five.
The Managing Partner of the Year will be fiercely contested, with 10 shortlisted finalists after the first round of judging, including Jeanette Chan from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, Justin D’Agostino from Herbert Smith Freehills, Milton Cheng from Baker McKenzie, and Susheela Rivers from DLA Piper.
On the in-house side, ALB received a total of 98 submissions. Hysan Development Co., Hang Lung Group, Gammon Construction, Fosun, FinEX Asia, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Credit Suisse, AXA Insurance and Nord Anglia Education are new participants for the year. 11 hopefuls will be going head-to-head in the Hong Kong In-House Team of the Year.
