Deacons, the largest local law firm in Hong Kong, has hired capital markets specialist Peter Cheng as a partner from Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he was a counsel.

Cheng’s focus is primarily on Hong Kong IPOs. He has also advised on numerous ECM transactions, compliance with Hong Kong Listing Rules, mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments.

In 2009, Cheng was seconded to the legal department of the Hong Kong office of Morgan Stanley where he focused on ECM transactions. Later, in 2016, he was seconded to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Listing and Regulatory Affairs Division where he was mainly involved in reviewing listing applications as well as developing listing related polices in Hong Kong. 

Prior to joining Davis Polk in 2014, Cheng practiced law at Clifford Chance.

Global law firm Morrison Foerster has announced that private equity veteran Scott Jalowayski will rejoin the firm as a partner in Singapore. Jalowayski most recently co-chaired the global private equity group at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
