Eversheds Sutherland has appointed hired Cedric Lam as the head of its intellectual property practice in Greater China from Dorsey & Whitney in Hong Kong.

Lam advises corporations in acquiring and maintaining IP rights and implementing IP protection and licensing strategies, as well as counselling private equity and venture capital firms on IP investments in Greater China.

Lam’s appointment comes at a time where there is a growing demand for IP services in the region especially from private equity and venture capital firms. The mounting trade tensions between the U.S. and China is also a contributing factor to the rise in the need for IP services.

Lam’s appointment will strengthen Eversheds Sutherland’s corporate team in Hong Kong which earlier this year hired Dickson Ng as corporate partner from Taylor Wessing, also promoted consultant Amy Yu to partner.
