Herbert Smith Freehills and Allen & Overy picked up five awards each at The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2018, with Baker McKenzie winning the coveted prize of The Macallan Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Award Hong Kong Law Firm of the Year.

At the event held on Sept. 7 at the Conrad Hong Kong, HSF’s haul included the Art Futures Award for Managing Partner of the Year, won by Justin D’ Agostino. Meanwhile, A&O won the Woman Lawyer of the Year award (Catherine Husted), as well as the International Arbitration Law Firm of the Year.

The 17th edition of the regional legal industry’s biggest celebration saw other firms win key law awards as well. Morrison & Foerster won both Dealmaker of the Year (Marcia Ellis) and Deal Firm of the Year, while the Rising Law Firm of the Year award went to FitzGerald Lawyers.

Among the in-house categories, the ACC HK Award for Hong Kong In-House Team of the Year went to HSBC, while The Macallan Triple Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky Award Hong Kong In-House Lawyer of the Year was shared by Joe Zhou from CICC and Richard Pu from Tencent.
