Offshore firm Harneys has hired dispute resolution specialist Andrew Johnstone as a partner in Hong Kong from HFW, and also named Ian Mann, head of its litigation and restructuring practice group, as its  new Asia managing partner.

Additionally, the firm has appointed Paul Sephton as head of transactional for Asia, and Adam James as Asia COO.

Mann’s appointment follows the recent death of Jonathan Culshaw, who was the firm’s Asia managing partner, as well its global head of investment funds.

Mann has been recognized for three consecutive years by the Asian Legal Business Offshore Client Choice List, since it was established in 2016.

Johnstone, who spent 11 years with HFW, relocated to Hong Kong from London in 2012.

“Andrew is highly regarded as one of Asia’s leading litigators and we’re immensely proud to have him on the team,” Mann commented on the hire.

“His broad dispute resolution experience is the perfect complement to our existing offering and he will play a key role in enabling us to continue to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.”

With the arrival of Johnstone, Harneys now has 50 lawyers in Hong Kong, including 12 partners, making it the largest offshore law firm in Hong Kong.
