Withers has hired a total of six new partners in Tokyo, specialising in real estate and investment funds, from organisations including White & Case and Deloitte.
Koji Yamamoto and Yoshiyuki Omori have joined the Withers’ investment funds practice in Tokyo from Deloitte, and they will be joined by three of their team members.
Yamamoto has advised clients in investment funds and investment management while Omori has acted for both domestic and foreign financial investment institutions and investment funds on Japanese securities regulations for over 10 years.
The duo will work with partner Junko Shiokawa, who will split her time between Withers’ Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. As reported earlier, Shiokawa joins from Harneys.
Meanwhile, three new real estate partners have joined Withers in Tokyo: Gerald Fujii from White & Case; Naoki Ueyama from Masuda & Partners; and Steven Wheeler from Kaynex.
Withers opened its Tokyo office in 2015. The Tokyo office has historically focused on tax advice for international clients active in Japan.
