U.S. law firm Debevoise & Plimpton has appointed Gareth Hughes as a litigation partner in Hong Kong from Ashurst, where he was the head of dispute resolution in Asia.

Hughes primarily focuses on banking and financial services-related litigation and regulatory inquiries. He is also experienced in judicial review, shareholder disputes, commercial fraud claims and international arbitration.

With more than 15 years of experience in Hong Kong, Hughes has acted for multiple financial institutions, including in defending allegations of misselling, breach of duty of care or misrepresentation. 

Prior to joining Ashurst in 2011, Hughes was a partner at Simmons & Simmons for six years.

Global law firm Morrison Foerster has announced that private equity veteran Scott Jalowayski will rejoin the firm as a partner in Singapore. Jalowayski most recently co-chaired the global private equity group at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
