The ALB Korea Law Awards, the foremost awards event for the country’s legal profession, is coming back for the 6th time. The winners will be announced at a black-tie event on Friday, Nov 9, 2018, at Grand Hyatt Seoul.

The 2018 edition of the awards features a number of new categories, including International Deal Firm of the Year, Korea Practice Foreign Law Firm of the Year, Maritime Law Firm of the Year, Matrimonial and Family Law Firm of the Year, as well as Innovative In-House Team of the Year.

As the foremost awards event for the region’s legal profession, a record-breaking 35 law firms will be fiercely contesting for the coveted accolade this year. Lee & Ko is the frontrunner this year, with a total of 17 nominations in firm and individual categories. It is closely followed by its fellow law firms: Bae, Kim & Lee, Kim & Chang and Yoon & Yang with 16 nominations, while Shin & Kim, Jipyong and Yulchon have 14 each.

Among international firms, Herbert Smith Freehills has the most nominations (10), followed by Ropes & Gray with 6, and Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner with 3.

On the in-house side, ALB received a total of 41 submissions. 9 hopefuls will be going head-to-head in the Korea In-House Team of the Year.
