Morgan Lewis Stamford is beefing up its finance practice with the hiring of banking and finance lawyer Guan Feng Chen as partner at its Singapore office. Chen, who will join the firm later this month, was co-leader of White & Case’s Asia banking and restructuring practice.

Chen has represented clients across Southeast Asia including in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. He has also been a part of high-profile deals, some of which were the first of their kind in the Asian market.

Qualified to practice in the UK and Singapore, Chen has also worked in White & Case’s Singapore, Hong Kong and London offices. He began his career as an associate at White & Case and worked at the firm for nearly two decades.

Chen’s hire comes at a time when the Philadelphia-based Morgan Lewis has been expanding rapidly across Asia. This year, the firm made several partner hires including Karun Cariappa, Helen Fok, Motonori Araki and Mitsuyoshi Saito.
