Khaitan & Co, India’s second-largest firm by headcount, has appointed dispute resolution specialist M. Nikhilesh Rao as a partner in Bengaluru from IndusLaw.

Rao specialises in advising clients on pre-litigation strategies for civil and commercial disputes. He has appeared before the Karnataka High Court, Civil Courts, Magistrate Courts, Arbitral Tribunals, the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal, Consumer Dispute Redressal Commissions and the National Company Law Tribunal, among others.

Khaitan, which has upwards of 120 partners in its offices in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, had a total of 558 lawyers, according to the ALB Top 50 rankings for 2018.

The rankings also found that IndusLaw was the 22nd-largest law firm in the country with a total of 78 attorneys. Founded in 2000, the firm has offices in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. It currently lists 27 partners on its website, including Sudipta Routh, who recently joined from Samvad Partners.
