DLA Piper has hired corporate and finance specialist Philip Lee as a partner in Singapore from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he headed that firm’s debt capital markets practice for Asia.

Lee specialises in securities transactions, especially those related to structured finance and general securities. He also has experience in syndicated and secured bank lending with emphasis on structured finance, project finance and acquisition finance.

Starting his career at the legacy Freehills in Australia, Lee also worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Allen & Overy. He left A&O in 2012 for Herbert Smith, some months before its merger to become Herbert Smith Freehills.

DLA has been hiring steadily in Asia the past year. Capital markets specialist Yang Ge joined the firm in Beijing in June last year, while corporate partner Henry Cheng was hired in Hong Kong in April.
