Oentoeng Suria & Partners, Ashurst’s associated firm in Indonesia, has hired Frédéric Draps as a projects partner in Jakarta from Ginting & Reksodiputro, Allen & Overy’s associated firm

Draps, who started his legal career with A&O in his native Belgium, spent more than 13 years at that firm. He was a foreign legal consultant with Ginting & Reksodiputro at the time of his departure.

With a focus on development and financing of projects in power and renewable energy, oil and gas and mining infrastructure sectors, Draps is experienced in advising on cross-border disputes related to projects, mainly in the energy and transportation sector.

Draps’ appointment comes shortly after ADTLaw, Ashurst’s formal law alliance in Singapore, added partner Michelle Phang.

Ashurst recently advised Indonesian state mining company Inalum on its $3.85 billion acquisition of a majority stake in the Grasberg mine in Papua, the largest divestment by a foreign resources company in the history of Indonesia and the largest M&A deal in the country in the past decade.
