The finalists for the 15th ALB Japan Law Awards 2019 have been revealed ahead of the event to be held at the Grand Hyatt, Tokyo on June 13, 2019. Awards given out in different categories will showcase the numerous achievements of the legal industry across Japan over the past year.

Nearly 500 submissions were received this year. The BMW Award Woman Lawyer of the Year was the most popular category in terms of submissions received, followed by Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year, International Deal Firm of the Year, Japan Law Firm of the Year and Managing Partner of the Year. 

Atsumi & Sakai and Nishimura & Asahi led the nominations, with 23 categories each. Baker McKenzie (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) followed with 19 nominations while Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu was nominated in 16 categories.

Three new categories have been included in this edition of the ALB Japan Law Awards, namely Project Finance Deal of the Year, Young Lawyer of the Year, Antitrust and Competition Law Firm of the Year.
