UK law firm RPC has hired Charles Allen as a partner in Hong Kong from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he headed the commercial litigation and international arbitration practice in the city.

Allen, who has practiced in Asia for more than two decades, has appeared before Hong Kong courts, as well as in disputes in other jurisdictions such as China, Singapore and India. He has also been an arbitrator.

Allen started his career at Clifford Chance and Simmons & Simmons before joining Sidley Austin in Hong Kong in 2002. He became a partner of the firm in 2007. Allen joined Orrick as a partner in August 2016.

The arrival of Allen takes the total number of RPC partners in Hong Kong to seven, out of a total of 26 lawyers.
