Herbert Smith Freehills has hired disputes lawyer Warathorn Wongsawangsiri as a partner in the firm’s Bangkok office from local heavyweight Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partners.

Warathorn represents clients in domestic and international litigation and arbitration, including before the Thai Arbitration Institute, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. In 2017, he was named as one of ALB’s 40 Under 40 for Asia.

“We are delighted to add Warathorn's expertise and experience to our market-leading Asia disputes team,” said Justin D'Agostino, HSF’s Asia executive partner, in a statement. “Warathorn's appointment demonstrates the firm's commitment to Thailand and our ongoing investment in both Southeast Asia and our Asia disputes practice.  We warmly welcome him to our firm.”
