Joseph Omar Castillo, a lawyer with experience at firms such as Puyat Jacinto & Santos Law Offices (PJS Law), Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW) and Baker McKenzie, has been named by budget carrier AirAsia Philippines as its chairman.

Castillo headed the transport and business process outsourcing practices at PJS Law, before leaving to join the AirAsia Philippines board of directors earlier this year. He has more than a decade of legal experience in areas such as infrastructure, labour relations, contact support, and immigration, as well as corporate matters.

Castillo replaces Marianne Hontiveros, who had been chair of the airline since 2014. The budget carrier is planning to launch an initial public offering before the end of the year, according to media reports.
