We have been exclusively retained on this exciting opportunity for a motivated corporate commercial lawyer to be a part of City Football Group's global legal team in City Football Group's China office in Chengdu. 

Owner of Manchester City F.C., City Football Group is also an owner of Sichuan Jiuniu F.C. based in Chengdu, China.  The successful candidate will provide legal support to the CFG China Leadership Team on CFG's commercial activities in China and the Sichuan Jiuniu F.C. with strong support from and access to the legal resources of City Football Group.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advising the China CEO on legal matters affecting the day to day operation of Sichuan Jiuniu F.C. and CFG's commercial activities in China.
  • Advising on, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements governed by Chinese law.  
  • Develop working relationship with the CFG Legal Team and busines teams to ensure CFG policies and practices are followed within Chinese operations.
  • Provide legal representation when required during commercial negotiations.
  • Assist with the procurement of vendors for general operations e.g., in support of IT, HR and Finance.
  • Assist with contract administration and execution.

Key requirements:

  • Admitted to practise law in Hong Kong or PRC.
  • 2-3 PQE.
  • Business level proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of procurement processes (RFPs, tenders, etc.) desirable.
  • In-house experience preferred.
  • Flexible, pro-active and strong "can-do" approach to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to deliver quality work consistently and efficiently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, managing time and working to tight deadlines to ensure priorities are met.
  • Strong communication skills and able to develop networks, create and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Customer-focused approach to the management of all internal and external relationships.
  • Responsive to guidance and instruction.
  • Able to maintain well-organized and detailed documentation records.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with sensitive information and handling highly confidential matters.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
