Asian Legal Business is proud to showcase the high-caliber law firms, in-house teams, and individual lawyers who made it to the shortlist for the ALB Philippine Law Awards 2019. They are evidence of the excellent performances of local and international legal practitioners who have made a positive impact in the Philippines.

Leading the shortlist by the number of qualified nominations, excluding deals, are Quisumbing Torres and Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra, each with 14; SycipLaw and Villaraza & Angangco, with 13 each; and Gulapa & Quicho with 10. On the in-house side, International Container Terminal Services and Shell lead with five nominations each, followed by Accenture and Lazada E-Services, each with four.

Past joiners and more than 20 new organizations participated in this year’s nominations. Among the first-time in-house nominees are 3M Service Center, ABS-CBN, BDO Unibank, Concentrix CVG, FactSet, JG Summit Holdings, Light Rail Manila Corp, Manila Electric Co, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp, MUFG Bank and Shopee. Stephenson Harwood, Shearman & Sterling, Platon Martinez Law, and ZGLaw are among the new law firm entrants.

The announcement of winners of 34 categories will take place at a black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony on Nov. 22, at Makati Shangri-La, Manila. This will be hosted by ALB, in collaboration with Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc., British Chamber of Commerce Philippines, Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines.
