Job Description

We have been engaged as the exclusive recruiter for The Premier League to look for a Commercial Solicitor to work in its in-house enforcement team. The right candidate will have excellent knowledge of the anti-piracy space and awareness of the current issues and challenges faced in the content protection area.

This role involves working on all elements of the team’s enforcement strategy, particularly civil and criminal actions pursued against individuals and entities involved in the piracy of the Premier League's audio-visual rights, both in Singapore and around the Asia-Pacific region.  You will be required to work independently and oversee a variety of cases as well as related enforcement efforts where required.  Your efforts will be part of a broader global strategy and will involve regular liaison with head office in London as well as liaising with and overseeing retained counsel around the region. This is an exciting time to join the organisation and an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

Requirements for the role

  • High quality academic background and robust legal training from a reputable law firm or recognised in-house legal department of an industry-relevant company (television or other media groups, regional broadcasters, new media platforms).
  • Qualified solicitor with 3-5 years post qualification experience (candidates outside this range with the required skills will be considered).
  • A good understanding and application of Intellectual Property laws, in particular copyright law.

  • Specific working knowledge of relevant laws - IP enforcement, copyright, and other applicable legislation.

  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to communicate legal issues and solutions in an articulate, precise and effective manner.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and positive attitude towards work and who takes full ownership of their tasks and responsibilities. You should have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team; and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
