India’s AZB & Partners has hired competition expert Bharat Budholia as a partner in Mumbai from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Since August, the two firms have traded partners. Corporate partner Dhruv Singhal rejoined CAM from AZB, and prior to that, Nikunj Maheshwari joined AZB as a banking and finance practice from CAM.

Budholia advises on competition matters, including cartel enforcement, abuse of dominance, and merger control, across sectors such banking, sports, media, energy, steel, pharmaceuticals, financial services, FMCG, transport, telecom and airport infrastructure. He has obtained 70 merger clearances, and also argued cartel, and abuse of dominance and behavioural matters before the Competition Commission of India. 

Budholia spent more than nine years combined at CAM and the legacy Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. He started his career with Juris Corp in 2009.
