It was a star-studded night at the fourth annual ALB Philippine Law Awards, as some of the biggest names in the industry came together to celebrate the outstanding contributions of private practitioners and in-house counsel in the country.
The event, which was held at the Makati Shangri-La in Manila, saw SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan win seven awards – the most that night. The awards included Dealmaker of the Year (for Marievic G. Ramos-Añonuevo), Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year (for Emmanuel M. Lombos), Arbitration Law Firm of the Year and Philippine Deal Firm of the Year.
Quisumbing Torres came a close second with a haul of three awards including Young Lawyer of the Year (for Alain Charles Veloso), and Transportation and Logistics Law Firm of the Year.
The biggest award of the night – the Philippine Law Firm of the Year – went to Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz. The firm was also the winner of the Labour and Employment Law Firm of the Year award.
Additionally, Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia claimed the Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year title, while Allen & Overy was named the International Law Firm of the Year. And the Boutique Law Firm of the Year award went to Avenida & Diaz.
In the individual categories, Joe Nathan P. Tenefrancia of Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia won the Managing Partner of the Year title, while International Container Terminal Services’ Lirene C. Mora–Suarez was named the Woman Lawyer of the Year.
Among the in-house categories, Aboitiz Equity Ventures won the Philippine In-House Team of the Year award, while Accenture was named the Innovative In-House Team of the Year. Meanwhile, the In-House Lawyer of the Year title was shared by Pilipinas Shell petroleum Corp’s Vincent C. Juan and Manila Electric Co’s William S. Pamintuan.
